Canterbury Pads: Private and Shared Apartments for Rent owned by Canterbury English for Canterbury Teachers and TEFL Students.

Advantages: NO security deposit is necessary while you are with the Canterbury teaching academy.

Savings: This will save you 400 Euros (about $550) on the room and 1200 Euros (about $1500) on the private apartment in security deposits during your first month in Madrid, plus your first week in a pension or hotel (about 400 Euros) while you apartment hunt.

Benefits: Because we realize you are making a big life change by coming to Spain to teach for Canterbury, by offering the Canterbury Pads with no security deposit, we are trying to make your first few months in Madrid more affordable and beneficial for you. Also, because you will be a student in our TEFL program and a teacher in our school, we have a relationship of mutual trust.

Availability: This depends on who's moving out and changes from month to month. Teachers usually let us know that they are leaving 2-4 weeks ahead of time.

We Will Contact You: Every month, a week or two before orientation, we will send an email to all the students who have signed up in for the next TEFL course, letting students know what's available. If you don't receive an email, then nothing is available. However, this could change a few days before orientation.

Reservations: We can only reserve a room or an apartment for you, after we have let you know what is available by email a few weeks before your orientation. When you receive the email, you can then make your reservation (first come, first serve) by paying the first month's rent by credit card, bank transfer or by signing a pre-rental contract (this is the easiest option for you). We will send the pre-rental contract to you with the availability notification email. When we recieve it back, we will send you the email of a Canterbury teacher in the appartment for you to organize your arrival time with them, so that there is someone in the appartment to give you the keys when you arrive. This way you can walk off the plane and into the appartment. If you choose the pre-rental contract, you would pay in cash (not by credit card) by making a deposit in the bank next to the appartment the day after you arrive.

Best Option:If there is a room available, this is definately your best option for your first few months in Madrid!
